Yu just spawn them in the settlement you want them to be in, customize their appearance (they do spawn naked, so you'll have to give them clothes unless you want a nudist colony, and hey if you do, you do you) and weapons) then assign them to the settlement using the workshop menu. What I've found since is Spawnable Unique Settlers that lets you spawn in settlers and then customize them (there's 100's of settlers in the mod, since each settler must be unique, unless you want clones) and then I use a Name changing mod to change their names. Settlers have the same thing except for a few that are "unique" that you can change. This basically hard locks their hair (and even body/face sometimes.) The only way to fix it is to use a mod that changes Piper on her BaseID and changes the FaceMorph setting to 0. You can't just willy nilly change Synth Curie's appearance like you would others (though honestly her case is much weirder) but like Piper for example has a setting called FaceMorph which is set to 1. The same problem happens with some companions like Curie. I think actually the problem is that certain NPCs including settlers can't be changed as they revert back to their baseID. Tried a completely different save file still didn't work.Ĭonsidering I was able to use it, then in the same session it broke without me downloading any new mods (or removing), I'm not entirely convinced this issue is even from any mod conflicts this might just be something caused by LooksMenu by itself. I decided to save then close came back, still didn't work. Me personally, I'm not sure what is doing this, as two hours ago in my game I was able to, then all of a sudden in the same game session I couldn't. I'm not sure what kind of mods would be similar to Better Settlers, but from a quick search of it I don't think I have any mods like it.įrom the hour long search I've done, this issue seems to be reported only a few times prior to 2020 (this chat is the exception in my search so far), but even with it being reported two years ago on at least 2 other pages, I have yet to find anyone report a fix.įrom several different reports on several different pages, the only constant I've found so far is that using LooksMenu, users are unable to change Female NPCs' hair and hair color, but are able to do so to male NPCs and Female Player Characters. I've also recently ran into this issue, but I don't have Better Settlers. I can use presets (jsod files) on an NPC without any problems.Ĭan anyone provide some ideas about what might be causing these NPC Looks Menu hair problems? Is my Looks Menu toolbar displaying correctly? R) PRESETS A) FACE 01 D) there is no text here F) FACE E) EXTRAs B) BODY Enter) DONE The new style is marked with correctly if I reopen hair but the NPC hair style did not actually change.įYI, my Looks Menu toolbar looks like this: When I select "E" I see the various hairs from the installed hair mods but choosing a new style from the list does not change the hair on the NPC. These options are: E) style C) color Esc) back. When I click on HAIR, the NPC's hair shimers green and a "hair" tool bar appears in the lower middle of the screen with 3 options. The only hair option I have is HAIR (all caps) which is found at the very bottom of the "Face" section. However, I can not change the NPC's hair. I select the NPC, start the looks menu and I can change NPC facial features. It works fine when I am using one of the in-game doctors to change my character's appearance including hairs from various hair mods I have installed. I have Looks Menu and its required files installed using the correct versions of each.
